Discover new possibilities!
Today, we are pleased to present the latest features of MACHINES.CLOUD. The latest version 10.15 brings with it a host of new features that make working in the cloud even easier and more efficient. From improved security features to new automation capabilities, the new features offer a wide range of benefits for anyone working in the cloud. In this post, we'll give you a detailed overview of all the new features, so you can get ready to use MACHINES.CLOUD in the best possible way. Let's get started right away and discover the exciting new features!
Individual cockpit configuration
You now have the option to configure your own cockpit applications according to your individual needs. If you have the appropriate permissions, you can clone the default cockpit application and customize certain settings. Among other things, you can define which of the available functions such as alarms, data explorer, etc. should be displayed in the navigator.
You can also define which groups or subgroups should be displayed as the top level in the Navigator. This way you can configure your own cockpit application, which can look quite different from the default application.
Contextual help
To make it easier for you to understand the content and function of a page, introductory texts explaining the purpose of the page have been added to almost every page. This contextual information can be accessed via a help icon/button in the action bar. Clicking on it opens a tab with a brief introduction to the functionality of the page in question and a direct link to the corresponding section in the user manual.
New asset selector
Widgets now support the new device and asset selector. With the new selector, you can quickly navigate through all groups and devices that apply to the currently selected widget.
In addition, devices and assets can be searched globally (for reports or home dashboards). If a group contains many items, the current level can be filtered.
Advanced software management
The "Device Management" software repository now shows the name of the software, the device type for which it is applicable, the software type and an icon indicating whether and how many versions are available. The values in each column except the "Versions" column can be filtered and sorted.
Digital Twin Manager
With the new "Digital Twin Manager", you can create and manage assets for your physically connected devices. Assets can be used to structure and describe devices in logical hierarchies as they occur in the real world. Furthermore, the assets can be expanded and enriched with additional information using the properties library.
Asset types serve as a template for your assets and define how they are structured. An asset type defines what custom properties an asset should have. You can also define relationships between multiple asset types, which are taken into account when you create your actual asset hierarchies. Once the asset type is created, it can be used to create different assets.
Improved page for all devices
In an effort to offer you a more uniform presentation across the entire platform, the "All devices" page has been redesigned. It is now implemented according to a data grid, as you already know it from the "Subassets" and "Search" pages. This provides an improved appearance in different view sizes for many devices, easier filtering and sorting, a pagination option and forms a solid foundation for further improvements.
Improved data point selector
The data point selection window has also been redesigned. It is now divided into 3 columns. In the left column you can make a selection from all your groups, the middle column shows you the devices belonging to the selected group. As soon as you have made a selection, all selected devices appear in the right column and can be deselected easily. A search function has also been implemented.
Extensible device registration
Extensible device registration is a new feature that allows microservices developers to implement their own device registration process without explicitly extending a single line of UI source code.
A custom device enrollment form can be created with a JSON schema and some specific endpoints that the microservice must provide. This form is then displayed when the user clicks the appropriate button in a drop-down menu on the device registration page once the microservice is subscribed to the tenant.
LWM2M 1.1 support
We now support the following LWM2M 1.1 features:
- LWM2M Send
- Compound operations (read, write, observe, cancel observation).
- New LWM2M serialization formats: CBOR, SenML JSON, SenML CBOR
- New LWM2M data formats: Core Link, unsigned integers
Revised LWM2M device registration
The LWM2M agent now provides registration wizards for single and bulk registration of LWM2M devices. These dialogs allow you to conveniently perform single and bulk registrations of LWM2M devices. They also perform input validation and detect common errors before the device is created.
